A sales tax exemption certificate can be used by businesses (or in some cases, individuals) who are making purchases that are exempt from the New Jersey sales tax. If you are a retailer purchasing goods for resale, you are not subject to New Jersey's sales tax. You shall qualify for resale exemption from sales tax, and this is the certificate you should present to your seller at the time of transaction. The seller shall not charge sales tax, and he will take the resale exemption certificate from you and keep it in his records.
