A sales tax exemption certificate can be used by businesses (or in some cases, individuals) who are making purchases that are exempt from the Maryland sales tax. This is an affidavit that should be completed by the buyer and the seller where indicated and should be sent to the Government of Maryland to the correct department, along with the Exemption Certificate. Doing so will ensure tax-exempt status for the buyer.
