New Mexico Exemption Affidavit
A sales tax exemption certificate can be used by businesses (or in some cases, individuals) who are making purchases that are exempt from the New Mexico sales tax. You can download a PDF of the New Mexico Exemption Affidavit on this page. For other New Mexico sales tax exemption certificates, go here.
If you qualify for sales tax exemption under any New Mexico law, you should use this exemption certificate when making the purchase. Simply get the form printed, fill out the details including how you qualify for sales tax exemption, and hand it over to the vendor as part of the transaction. On this, the vendor will not charge the sales tax from you. Please note that the vendor is not bound by the law to verify if you truly qualify for the exemption, and in case it turns out later that you didn't qualify for the exemption, you shall have to pay the sales tax. Vendor's acceptance of the exemption affidavit for sales tax does not mean that you actually qualify.
